Our Family's First Mission Call

My little sister got her mission call today. She is going to the Paraguay Asuncion Mission. It's spanish speaking. Woo hoo! She goes into the MTC on August 17th. I'm so proud of her. I'm also so very jealous and excited for her. She's going to be a great missionary.

Sadly, nobody guessed Paraguay. Ok, not true. It was my first guess and I told my mom that. She then told me that a boy from our old ward that we're not super fond of is going there so I decided to change it and guessed Argentina since that's close. I shouldn't have changed my guess! I was right!

CONGRATS, CHELS!

Half Marathon

I recently decided that I'm going to run a half marathon. I've always enjoyed running, but am really bad at doing it consistently. Plus, I don't enjoy doing it by myself. My cousins told me that they are planning on running the half marathon in St. George later this year and just a couple of days later my best friend told me that she would like to do a half marathon. So I decided that I'm going to train and do this half marathon too. It'll help me get in shape and lose the pregnancy weight. I'm really excited about it.

This morning I woke up early and ran just over a mile with my cousin. It's definitely not much, but it's a start. And starting is half the battle, right? Hopefully I'll have gotten into the habit before we move so that when my cousins aren't around to keep me motivated, I'll be able to do it myself. Half marathon, here I come!

2010 Goals

Allan and I both set our big individual goals for 2010 and just laughed when we shared them with each other because they are the same! I'm putting them up here to remind us about them. Everyone else can feel free to remind us to follow through on them as well. :)

1. Get back to school (summer semester for Allan & probably fall for me)
2. Lose weight & get in shape

The best thing about goal #2 is that we want to lose about the same amount of weight. We got a kick out of that. It's going to be so much better to have a partner to work on it with. And hey, a little friendly competition might just help us push a little harder too. Ok, it'll help me for sure. We'll see about Allan. He's not anywhere near as competitive.

We haven't sat down and set our family goals for the year. I think for now we're just trying to make it through having the baby. Maybe after we get through that, we'll figure out what we really need to work on as a family. I think Baby will keep us busy for a while just trying to figure out how to be parents to a newborn. It's exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.
